Doctor of Medicine (M.D):
 

Entry requirements ;there are 3 alternatives

   
Applicants must have at least two principal level passes, one of which must be at a level of D or above in any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics attained in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (National Form VI) or its equivalent.
   
Applicants who are holders of Medical Assistant/Clinical Officers Diploma / Certificates, Diploma in Nursing or Dental Assistant, who have credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at the Ordinary Level Certificate of Secondary Education (National Form IV or its equivalent) and a minimum working experience of 2 years.
   

Applicants who have successfully completed a one-semester HKMU Pre-university entry programme/matriculation examination.

 
Duration of the programme: Five academic years
 

(plus one year internship in an approved hospital).

NOTE all applicants must have a credit in English at ordinary level.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing):
  Entry requirements: [ There are 3 alternatives]:
   
Applicants must have completed Form VI or its equivalent (of not less than a total of 4.5 points), with at least two Principal Passes, one of which must be at a level of D or above in any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics.

   
Duration of the programme: 3 years plus one-year internship carried out in an approved teaching hospital.

   
Applicants must have completed Form IV (Ordinary Level Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent) with at least 3 credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, with a Diploma in Nursing, registered by the Nurses' Councils of their respective countries with at least a working experience of two years in a recognized hospital. Duration of the programme: 2 years
 
Duration of the programme:3 academic years
 

Applicants who have successfully completed a one-semester HKMU Pre-university entry programme or any other transferable pre-university programme / matriculation examination.

Diplomas:

Form six leavers with at least one pass at principal level in science subjects or Form four, with at least three credits in Physics, Biology and Chemistry.
  Duration of the programme: 2 academic years
 
In-Service Diploma Course In Nursing (MoH):
Entry requirements;
 
Holders of section B Nurse/Nurse Midwife certificate with a minimum working experience of 2 years in a recognized hospital and a positive recommendation from the immediate employer. Form IV holders or equivalent will have added advantage.
Duration of the programme: Two academic years.

  Certificate In Wholistic Therapeutic Counseling
   

In response to the increasing number of individuals with biosociopsychological problems resulting from HIV / AIDS entanglement, drug abuse, parenthood adolescent crisis, change problems in work place etc the HKMU's department of Behavioral Sciences and Ethics has introduced a Certificate course in WHOLISTIC THERAPEUTIC COUNSELING.
   

The programme is tailor made for: Corporate / parastatals personal officers, matrons/patrons from secondary schools, wardens, school principals, administrators, students' advisers and health professionals/workers.
 

Pre-University Entry Programme

 


The Pre-university programme offered at HKMU is designed to provide a sound theoretical and practical foundation in basic sciences subjects to students who, due to the structure of their local education system, just fall short of the entry qualifications to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree programmes at HKMU.

 

Entry Requirements;
Applicants who have gone through the 8-4-4 system and passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at C grade and above; or those who fall short of one science subject.
Applicants who have at least two A-level passes at E grade. Female applicants with one principal pass may be considered provided they do not have F grades in the other two subjects.
Applicants who hold a Diploma in any allied health science subject. Such applicants must have at least two credits at O-level or its equivalent in relevant subjects for admission into.


Course Duration
- one semester of 24 weeks between January and June.
