HKMU to Start New Programmes

4 new programmes to start next academic year

The Faculty of Medicine, Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and Research and the ICT Unit of HKMU are in the process of drafting proposals to start new programmes beginning the academic year 2011/2012 as follows:

• Masters in Public Health (MPH);
• Certificate in International Computer Driving License (ICDL);
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology(BS-MLT);
• Master of Social Work (MSW).

Moreover the Faculty of Nursing has re-introduced a Pre-service Bachelor of Science Degree course in Nursing. It will be a 4 – year programme, beginning in 2010/2011. The faculty will continue to run the old 3- year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (In-service) programme. Meanwhile the Mikocheni School of Nursing, which is affiliated to HKMU’s Faculty of Nursing, beginning in the 2010/2011 academic year, will run a Pre-Service Diploma Programme in Nursing/Midwifery/ Psychiatry for 3 years, while the old Upgrading Diploma will now be conducted for 1 year (instead of 2).

The move to start new programmes is in line with the market forces, availability of resources, teaching and learning facilities.
